The 2020 Puma International Open is being held on Saturday 8th of February 2020 in the Oasis Leisure Centre, Swindon. NUIG at Leinster Championships
NUIG at the Leinster Championships On Sunday the 24th of March, 2 members of NUIG Taekwon-do Ireland travelled to Athlone Institute of Technology in Westmeath to compete in the Leinster Championships, hosted by Athlone Taekwon-do. Bishopstown TKD Head Back to Gormanston!
Bishopstown Taekwondo travelled to Gormanston Co. Meath for the INTA International Open Championships at the weekend. The SMA Hall Wilton based club were competing at this event for the first time. It is the longest running International Open in Europe. There were 500 competitors competing over the two days. NUIG at UCC Intervarsities
On Saturday 23rd of February, 6 members of NUIG Tae Kwon-Do travelled down to the Mardyke Arena in Cork to take part in the Tae Kwon-Do Intervarsities, hosted by UCC. The team did well through the day, walking away with 14 medals: 5 gold, 4 silver and 5 bronze. They started well with Roisin O’Loughlin scoring silver in the female black belt patterns. TKDI Conquer the Country on a Busy Weekend!
TKDI were represented well at THREE tournaments last weekend with some dedicated students traveling to more than one event! On Saturday 20th October Bishopstown TKD made the early morning journey to Gormanston, Co. Meath, and it proved a roaring success! 16 of their students traveled to compete in the INTA National Championships, earning 20 medals altogether. Bishopstowns Busy September!
Bishopstown TKDI started the new training season with a busy September. First up was the SMA Hall's Family Day on Sunday September 9th. Ms Sullivan Celebrates Argentina Medal!
Carrigaline's Ms Amy Sullivan scoops the bronze medal in the ITF World Championships in Argentina. This was an excellent result considering that this was Amy's first time competing at senior level on the international stage. Battle for Bishopstown!!
Bishopstown Tae Kwon-Do Club held their annual tournament on Sunday 15th April and this year, invited guests from Blarney UTI to join competitors from TKDI clubs across the city. There was fun, fighting, falls (not looking at you Mr. Ian O'Brien!!) and fantastic displays agility and talent on the day. Everyone left with a smile and if they were very luck, a trophy! Double Tournament Weekend!!
The last weekend in January was a busy one for TKDI students with Tournaments in both UCC and Neptune. Saturday saw students from NUIG and DIT clubs competing in the Open Intervarsities Tournament in UCC, while Sunday they were joined by Bishopstown, Ballinora, Carrigaline and Crosshaven clubs for the annual Scion Tournament in Neptune Stadium.
